How to set intentions and boost your inner strength.

Set your intentions

Ok.. so you may be saying to yourself, Jessica I do this already? I run around all day and get my stuff done! Now I need to "SET" them? What does that mean and how do I do that?

Here's where I come in to explain and help you navigate thru your week inviting in more balance and brilliance to you life.

Lets first start with...

What is an intention?

Intention; a thing intended; an aim or plan.

Intentions sometimes can be confused with every day chores.  Things like laundry, grocery shopping and cleaning the house are task that we can check off on our "to do" list.
Intentions are so much more fulfilling and can shift our mindset to embrace a more joyful, brilliant life when we implement them daily. Think of them as "positive promises" or new behaviors that we give ourselves to stay on track with living each day brilliantly.

What are some benefits of setting intentions?

  • Helps to boost your inner strength.
  • Builds self esteem by achieving your goals .
  • Provides accountability and allows you to take control of your personal choices and life.
  • Allows you to actively "show up" in your life the way you want to live it.
  • Promotes a positive attitude.

When is the best time to set intentions?

I find that setting my intentions every Sunday works best for me. It clears my mind and allows a fresh start to my week. However, intentions can be made anytime! Intentions can be written down on a piece of paper, recorded on voice memo, placed under notes in our phone or simply say them out loud! Just like "when" the "how" is what feels best for you!

What do intentions look like?

Remember to keep intentions positive. Avoid using words like not, don't, can't etc. It is best to be aware of our feelings at the time of setting our intentions. Are we stressed? tired? happy? Each week is different so it is crucial to be aware of how we are feeling in the present moment.

I like to find a quiet place and take a few deep breaths reflecting on how I am feeling in the present moment before I start writing down my intentions for the week.

Here are some example of my positive intentions.
